  • FERC issues draft Environmental Impact Statement for NESE project

    (BLOG POST) -- Williams’ Northeast Supply Enhancement project reached a major milestone March 23, 2018, when it received notice that that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), concluding that environmental impacts would be reduced to “less than significant levels” with the implementation of mitigation measures proposed by the company and FERC.

  • NY Building Congress: City needs more gas pipelines to offset Indian Point closure

    (BLOG POST) -- A new report released by the New York Building Congress says New York City needs more natural gas pipelines before the planned closure of the Indian Point nuclear plant. The study titled “Electricity Outlook: Powering New York City’s Future” says that New York City’s need for energy will expand as Indian Point’s scheduled 2021 deactivation approaches. It points out that 81.5% of the city’s electricity comes from natural gas burned in the five boroughs—and that more will be needed to keep New York’s lights on once the Indian Point nuclear plant is taken offline.     TULSA, Okla.--(PRESS RELEASE)--Williams Partners L.P. (NYSE: WPZ) announced today that it is initiating a binding open season from May 16 to June 9, 2016 for the Northeast Supply Enhancement project, an expansion of the Transco interstate pipeline to provide incremental firm natural gas transportation capacity to demand markets in the northeastern United States. Transco plans to place the project into service for the 2019/2020 winter heating season.
